​ - In his visit to the country, the Portuguese senior official highlighted the work developed by the Colombian government regarding drug policy.

- The Portuguese delegation visited different hospitals in the Colombian capital to take back to their country successful experiences of good practices.

Bogota, October 28, 2014. The Deputy Minister of Health of Portugal, Fernando Leal da Costa, on his official visit to Colombia, highlighted the progress of our country’s health system and emphasized that it is a system that is continuously evolving and developing.

“In Colombia there is a highly developed health system; it is changing and improving and we believe we can learn a lot from this system,” said Leal Da Costa.

The Portuguese Deputy Minister of Health also highlighted the regulation of drug prices adopted by Colombia and said that they will adopt a similar model.

“We have the same type of problem with medications in Portugal, so we thought about exchanging experiences and are very interested in knowing the laws of Colombia in order to adopt many topics of this regulation,” said the senior official of Portugal.

The main objective of the Portuguese delegation’s visit was to see first hand the structure of the Colombian health system and establish the basis of a mutual cooperation agreement between the two Ministries of Health.
